Dr. Vickie Saldana Martinez

We are happy to introduce the newest member of our team, Dr. Vickie Saldana Martinez! She is a native of San Antonio and understands the dental needs of Texans. She puts high priority on dental education and disease prevention while providing a compassionate approach to relieve patients’ dental fear and anxiety.

Dr. Saldana Martinez obtained her Bachelor’s degree from UTSA with a minor in Spanish. She received her doctorate from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. She has served the San Antonio and South Texas community as a dentist for the last 11 years and is highly qualified to meet the dental needs of you and your family.

Dr. Saldana Martinez and her husband have been married for 18 years and have four children. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family playing sports and spending time outdoors with her dog Rascal. She also enjoys baking and cooking.

Dr. Michelle Mach

We would like to welcome to the Westlakes Dental Family Dr. Michelle Mach! Dr Mach and Dr. Nelson met many years while serving together in border missions across the Rio Grande. Dr. Mach comes to us with 14 years experience with advanced training post graduation in 2007. She attended UTSA and obtain a bachelors degree in Biology. Following college she received a doctorate degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

She loves being able to help and serve others and has a heart for personal connections with patients. She has 4 wonderful children and enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, being active and travel.

Dr. Kerry Nelson

Dr. Nelson is a native Texan, being born in Houston and growing up in Central Texas. He began working in the dental industry in high school in a dental lab, meeting many local dentists that encouraged his path. After earning a BS in Chemistry, he worked in clinical cancer research at Scott and White Hospital where he studied and learned many facets of patient care as well as the intricacies of research. He continued his cancer research at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2001.

Since Dental School, he has owned and operated the Westlakes Family Dental clinic for 17 years, while still contributing to the UT school with part time faculty work in the Department of Clinical Dentistry. He continues to serve the under served in dental missions to Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil and El Salvador, as well as supervising dental students in inner city missions in San Antonio.

His wife Maria, and children, Nicolas and Carolina have a love for hiking, golfing and travel. He is a council member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and the San Antonio District Dental Society.

Dr. Darshit Shah

Dr. Shah, our Orthodontist, is a native of India. By the time he was in high school, he realized that Orthodontics was his calling in life. Based on his merits, he was able to enter dental school straight from high school.

His desire to practice Orthodontics at the highest level led him to move to USA. After completing dental school at Boston University, he was finally able to pursue his long-time dream of becoming an Orthodontist by entering Saint Louis University – the only active Orthodontic school established by the father of Orthodontics himself.

Family brings him to Texas and he finally feels at home here. When not at work, you can either find him yelling at the TV while supporting his soccer team, Manchester United, or walking the riverwalk with his girlfriend and dog.

Patients describe Dr. Shah as a fun, dedicated, detail oriented person with an eagerness to learn. He looks forward to giving you the smile that you’ve always wanted!

Dr. Barrett Beardsley

Dr. Barrett Beardsley was born and raised in Southern California. He earned his undergraduate degree in business at Brigham Young University. He then attended dental school at the University of Southern California, after which he became an active-duty officer in the US Army.

While stationed in San Antonio, Dr. Beardsley completed a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Brooke Army Medical Center. His service in the Army has brought him and his family to Seattle, the Mojave Desert and finally back to San Antonio, the city they consider home.

He is married with four children who love being Texans. He enjoys golf, surfing (it is possible in the gulf) and camping with his family. As a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery he is prepared to meet all the dentoalveolar surgical needs our patients might have.

Dr. Andrew Bott

Dr. Bott is originally from Clearwater, Florida. He completed his undergraduate studies at Baylor University, where he met his fiancée, who is also a dentist. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York. Following dental school, Dr. Bott completed an advanced residency at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System, where he focused on advanced periodontal procedures, implant dentistry, endodontics, and full-mouth rehabilitation.

Dr. Bott plans to settle in San Antonio with his fiancée after their wedding in March of 2027 and is excited to build lasting relationships while serving the local community. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with his fiancée and their two dogs, a golden retriever and a springerdoodle.
